'I still' Music video directed by Matt Mcdermitt

The video was cool - but then - it's easy to make 'cool looking stuff' when you have a crew, and a 35mm with nice lenses... just wished he would've fleshed out some more of the concepts with it, it just felt like ... I don't know it just felt off - like it looked good but it didn't look good, ya know?

I agree monte but if your vision is bad the video will be bad Ive seen horrible videos shot on 35mm with a decent budget!

Well, in the end - stylistically - I liked Stevin Knight's video better, personally. It just had a definite flow to it, a direction, there was always something going on, ya know?

In this video, the same things kept happening over and over again, and everything was shown in the first 30 seconds or so.

I agree with monte. You can only give him so much credit for being young. There was nothing extremely creative or break through in that video.

I thought it was fine. I couldn't have directed it better and within the concept of the video it looked great and flowed well. The compositions and lighting were nice and the camera movement gave it a nice sense of motion.

Because he's young doesn't mean we have to give him "so much credit" but it also doesn't mean we have to demand anything extra. If I saw that video on TV, I wouldn't pay it any special attention, but it looks good all the same, and I think that's all you can ask for (especially within the confines of what the band/producer want in the video I'm sure.) A budget's a wonderful thing, but the producer's demands are constricting. The video's definitely really solid and you can sense in the cutting pattern and compositions an artistic eye.

I think we're all just jealous.

Yes, no doubt producers/art directors can be quite difficult - not just in pre production/production but post as well - ie , "Well, can we have it spin instead of just sitting there, also can we have the dog be CGI, I don't like the look of the normal one" (I'm not joking) however, that's something that comes with shooting under those conditions - ie production companies and the like - and you can get great results. Like I said though, it's great to look at and it fits in with other videos, but I'm not really feeling it like I felt "Free your Mind".

Great video though!

Very true, perhaps I sometimes feel that way just because he it hyped. I stand partially corrected.

Imagine the internal conflict he (hopefully) experienced when he walked into a room (or got a phone call) and was told "Matt, we have some excellent news....we've got you a gig directing a new Backstreet Boys video!"....did he immediately feel a rush of exitement.....or did he, for at least a few seconds fall silent as his wheels turned....weighing the factors of desire for a career and money v/s it being a Backstreet Boys video? Did he say "What about Motley Crue or something...."? I mean, no matter what boost it gives toward being able to "work in the industry" (no puking emoticon available) and get some cash....it is The Backstreet Boys....and....well, The Backstreet Boys, man.

That being said, I've never seen the video because I have to be highly selective with how I use my dialup.....that time is reserved for The White Castle Incident.

How do you attach your self emotionaly to the Backstreet Boys?

I really don't understand your question, but giving it my best stab I'd say "negatively, in that they are a bit too gayish for my tastes and on top of that they just suck and I don't want to associate with suckage any more than neccesary" ....but I too would say "how much?". I mean, I would do it, but I would have an initial sinking in the gut and would definately inquire about other options that might be available instead.

And Barry, the penguin mind trick only works on the weak minded.....I know there's a White Castle Incident, Jarred knows it, and you know it! Come on....suck it up and let it play!

The White Castle Incident?

I wouldve shot the hot brunette the whole time while she listened to the radio or something and tell the band they're just too gay for me. (Not that theres anything wrong with that)

What about making each one of them dress up as a gay icon like Boy George, Elton John, George Michael, Freddy Mercury and uh...Rob Halford? (agreed, not that there's anything wrong with that....) and having them dance like The Village People! If I were to do it, they would have to suffer some humility....I just can't see allowing themselves to look as if they are to be take seriously in any way.

Oh, and The White Castle incident is evidentally a moment captured on video that would remove any ability for Barry Green to take himself seriously....not that he does, but judging the tone of Jarreds forum voice this is some good stuff! Barry wishes the whole thing to...and I quote "remain safely buried".
