Hello all,
I've posted a few things in this forum and have learned a lot from you all. Recently, I posted about going to Africa and documenting a humanitarian aide trip. I was given lots of solid advice. I finally got a little video together to share with the church, and thought I would post it here as well. I'd certainly appreciate any and all feedback as I want to keep getting better at this.
There was so much more to our trip than what was presented, but I was asked to keep the video to this length and chose to do little vignettes on specific parts of the trip.
To shoot everything I used a t2i running ML, and a 24-70. I also used a little pocket sized Canon s100 when I was walking on slick 2x4 beams up on the roof of a building where a DSLR rig would have been too much hassle. That worked out nice since my goal was to actually work on the trip as well as document it. I could swing a hammer, put it down, pull out the little camera and take a quick shot, put the camera back in my pocket and get back to swinging a hammer. The s100 wasn't great quality and I missed the opportunity for manual exposure control on the video, but it worked in a pinch and I'd do it again in a similar situation.
Audio for the interviews was done with a cheap radio shack lav and a zoom h1. Everything was synced up with Plural Eyes. The only post color correction i used was Magic Bullet Mojo. I wanted to make everything a little warmer and more contrasted as the SOC video looked a little.. maybe, "sanitized" is the word? Some things are handheld, some are on a tripod. Lots o' fun to do.
Anyways, I'll reserve my own thoughts and concerns. Any feedback is very much appreciated! Thanks for the help thus far.
Here's a few pics I took while the video was being shot too... in order to show my simple interview setup and see what I can do better:
