I really need help on thisone

ok guys,
I'm total noob in lighting..I've been reading some lighting related books and other materials but my question did not get really answered.
I'm going to be shooting a music video where there is going to be mainly dark outdoor and indoor where I need to light the room well enough so I will avoid image noise from my dvx. Now the part where all of you pros will laugh, I have a budget of cca $300 for lighting. Sooooo as you can see my best friend for shopping will be not any of the online stores with Arri's or other lighting brands but mostlikely local HomeDepot. This is fine with me at the beginning since I'm starting to making some money out of video production. What would you suggest me to get. I know this might be for many of you pathetic and silly try to do a project this way however this all I have and I want to do my best with available resources.

So I'm looking for something simillar to Arri 650 power home made lights and some home made softbox, homemade gels etc.

Any suggestions or ideas as far as pricing of the equipment I might need is greatly appreciated.

I hope I won't get stoned for this absured post.lol :)

Thanks a lot
Michal

Go to Scott Spears' site and read his article on "low budget lighting", you'll find a list of stuff you can buy that will give you a reasonably complete, workable kit for under $300.

That said, how important is this job? You could probably hire a gaffer with his own gear for a 4-hour shoot for $300, if he's not doing anything else... and that way you'd get much better gear, plus someone who knows how to use it. Of course you wouldn't get to keep anything, but you'd probably get a better-looking end product because you'd have another set of experienced hands working with you.
