I never got a release form....?

This question is strictly curiousity...

I helped my buddy out by starring in his student film for a college class, with the idea that it was for his class.

We've been friends/worked together for a long time, so I just did it and didn't think about any legal mumbo jumbo.

Then recently he comes to tell me he entered the film into 18 film festivals and also has my face plastered all over youtube/websites (and apparently facebook) advertising the film.

I'm not really mad (though I provided equipment and also did some boom work...and was not credited for any of this in the film...), but I find it weird...he didn't even really let me know until he did it. He never gave me any kind of release for...public/festival viewing or advertising or anything. Or being in the film. I thought it was just for some class.

There was no release forms for anyone...in fact, some people in the film might not even know this is going on.

Should I worry about this for some reason? Should I, uh, advise him to get some signatures on some papers? Haha.

Well, he's lucky that I'm his friend and I wouldn't try to cause problems for him- I agreed to be in the movie and unless he starts making a profit off of it, I won't bother him.

But he could have trouble with other people involved. I just find it funny that he's woefully ignorant of all of this- even if he didn't get the forms to begin with, it'd be nice to get some release forms before entering it into...uh, a ton of film festivals around the world.

Definitely mention your concern. If nothing else he needs to be in the habit of at the very least talking to people before doing something like that. It's not only very rude to do otherwise but potentially able to cuase him some pretty big problems.
