I need to rename my company.

Postmaster - I love it that you know ancient languages. I find it, uh sexy... Seriously, use to send notes in code to friends using phoenician alphabet. Love that stuff. If you read Mayan, then I definitely must meet you some day!

For a while I was considdering COFFEA EX MACHINA. It would make more sense since Coffea Arabica is the latin name for the coffee plant and Deus Ex Machina is latin.

The good thing about latin is that it's international without taking sides. A Swedish company with an English name works, but sounds kinda funny. A bit "overly hip" if you know what I mean. Latin works either way.

I dunno. I keep going back to MJÖLNER.
RAGNARÖK is another good one.

Maybe I should just give up film, start a heavy metal band called MJÖLNER and release our first album RAGNARÖK instead.

Charli, thanks to the...well, it would be trouble to note whom we can thank, but no one can read Mayan. The documents necessary to decode it were destroyed in the last millenium. By people who meant well.

That´s pretty tempting Charli, but as Max said, no chance for Mayan.
But I can do a little ancient Hebrew or ancient Aramaic if that helps? :cheesy:

Only two will survive...naked, and in the cleft of a hollow tree or something, if I recall correctly...hey, your logo could be a big ol' wolf breaking free of his chains...

Frank, are you *positive* about that translation? I don't want to be going around advertising that struggle makes the ferrets strong...

Almost 99% but I go and recheck it.

Frank

Edit:

My Latin dictionaries are not very useful here, I can only find:

refero : to carry back, bring back, return.
refero : to bring again, restore, repeat, echo, reproduce, recall.
refero : to say back, reply, answer.
refero : to put down, enter (in a register) / assign to a cause.
refero : to bring as expected, pay up, deliver.
refero retuli relatum : to bring back a message, refer.
refert retuli : (impersonal) it concerns, it makes a difference.

If you do a google search for referet, nothing useful comes up ether,
but if you search referret you find phrases like

'sensusque ducum plebisque referret and accidit quoque ut visum somnium referret fratribus quae causa maioris odii

Referre is definitely "to bring back" referret is an other form (cant remember which one) IMHO

...and what would BOB think?

JATAw - With the "t" as the hammer?

Zaza - Bob is fickled at best, so he wouldn't mind.

Postmaster - you are officially my McDreamy now. Zaza and SadMax are my McSteamy, but you're dreamy... wow, I sound like a girl...

this all makes me think my company name is way to boring and basic for a film/photo biz.... HDIMAGES.CA what a snoozer with no cool secret hidden meaning.

Damn. I was thinking Sleipner Film, but there's already a Sleipner Film & Komm in Denmark.

I wish there was a way to browse taken names, but the registration office here doesn't have one. Instead you have to send in three suggestions, and the one that works best for them is taken. then it costs over 100 bucks to re-apply if you want to change it.

JEM Films, JEM Productions, JEM Media? It uses your existing acronym but shortens it to something easier to remember. Doing a search I saw there are a few JEM Productions in the states, one in France and one in the UK.

Here's another thought.

We're sort of setting up a film community in the area I'm from where MARIANNE was shot.
It's called Jämtland.

So I'm playing around with calling it Jamtwood Studios.
