i need something to cut on!

i am going to be shooting short narratives/ music videos. I will be using the dvx100a and shooting in 24p and 24pa. right now, i have a pc. in the future i will be getting a mac w/ fcp. (hopefully) but for now, i need something to cut on! \

my computer info.
300s gateway pc
intel 2.0ghz celeron processor & motherboard
128mb 266mhz pc2100 ddr sdram
integrated video
40gb 5m ultra ata hard drive
48x/24/48x recordable/rewritable cdrw
windows xp

which software should i get? any advice? do i need to upgrade my pc?

oooch, thats not going to be fun with those specs. You should be able to get away with it though, I really like vegas.

Dude, you REALLY need more ram and HD space. And the celeron won't make it easy.

You're not going to get much for the PC.

Cost vs. power . . . no-brainer. Vegas.

There you go. Then take that money and buy a REAL editing machine. On a PC with those specs, you'll just get really frusterated.
