I need some tips on colour grading.

I can never seem to get it right. I'm using Premiere Pro 1.5 and I also have After Effects 6.5

I purchased Colorista but it won't work with my graphics card.

Any advice?

I'm doing a dark movie in a creepy basement. Most of the shots are very well lit but I would like to darken some of them up and create a creepy look.

Advice?

Look into levels, curves, solids/vignettes with blending modes, and maybe hue/saturation. That's all you need to grade a shot. You can also hop over to prolost.blogspot.com, it's Stu Maschwitz's blog (he helped create Colorista), he has tons of tips on color grading, a cool free 3-way color corrector for AE, etc.
