Hi, i'm confused and hope someone here can help me out.
So, my assignment is about compositing and track mattes. I shot a 20 second spot of my kids playing ball and then looking up into the sky before running away. Behind them is a school building. I have created a luma matte from a still image i extracted from the video. It serves the purpose of masking everything while a UFO flies up from behind the building and then comes towards the kids and hovers before flying away. At about halfway thru, i need to ditch the matte so that the UFO looks as though it is further forward and in front of the building. So, i selected the matte layer, and split it at the point where the transition occurs. Once i do this, my UFO disappears completely. I've tried changing the order of the split layer, etc but i can't figure it out!
Does this make any sense and does anyone have any suggestions?
