I just did a test shoot with my Canon HV20 camera. I have an IMAC desktop computer, by the way. I'm reading the manual here which mentions two different cords:
The USB cable, which comes WITH the camera, has to be connected from the usb port on the cam to the usb port on the computer. CHECK, done, no problem.
A DV Cable, which DOESN'T come with the camera but can be purchased separately, that needs to be connected from the HDV/DV port on the cam to a computer with a DV terminal or DV capture board. Ok, not sure what this is all about but I have the USB cable connected. Anyways.....
I installed the Canon software from the Canon CD, no problem. When I connect the USB to the mac and click on CameraWindow, it keeps saying No Camera Found. Also, I checked under my Network Preferences, my Ethernet is connected, my Airport is connected, but my Firewire is not connected soooo.... 1) I don't know how to set that up; 2) I don't know if this is necessary or not?
I have iMovie on my mac but the camera is not even showing up on there. So I don't know what I'm doing wrong or what I'm missing here. Do I need to get that DV cable which didn't come with the camera? Do I have to set up the Firewire as well, if so then how?
