I need help in audio editing...

I video recorded couple of songs sung by an artist in an event.
I used the Lapel Mic (Senheisser evolution) to record the voice directly into 1 channel of my dvx100a camera. He was playing a background music through auditorioum speakers. Unfortunately, I couldn't able to get the feed for 2nd channel from mixer for his background music. So, I recored everything in one channel. Voice is crsytal clear but the background music is little less gain.

How do I increase the background music and compensate both music and voice together?

I have Adobe Collection.

Please, advise me and help me if there is any solution.

Thanks
Anil

If I understand correctly, you have a mono recording of the vocalist from a lav mic, but you only have what little backing music was picked up by the lav (ie. leaked onto the vocal track).

EQ and compression will help a little bit, but if you try to bring the background up more than a couple of dB, you'll hear the music flee every time the vocals kick in.

If the vocalist was performing to pre-recorded music, then you may be in luck: just get a copy of the backing tracks to which they were singing. Import them into your session and synch them up by using the music leak on the vocal track as a guide.

If you can't get a dry recording of the backing music, then you may well be out of luck.

Thanks a lot. I have never used Adobe audition much, how can I use the "EQ and compression". Do you know where I can find some usefull tutorials on this?

But I will request the "pre-recorded music" from the artist.

Thanks a lot again.
