I say the PS2, you need something to do while rendering. You need something to unplug with, and you need to watch DVDs to learn things by watching other films.
Seriously, there’s a lot to be said for stress relief and/or getting out of reality or ones own head for a while. Games are proven to be quite therapeutic.

Yeah they say a lot of the younger people entering the military these days have sick hand-eye coordination off the bat and a lot of people are attributing it to game play (officially). Makes sense.

That is a good point.
i say there are a few things you kinda need...a couch, tv, dvd player, cpu, dvx...and a ps2...
i say get your ps2, but let that be the last thing you really spend cash on...save save save...there is nothing like not having to worry about next months rent...
...damn...I was hoping I'd wake up and everyone would say PS2...grrr...
;D
You know...if I pay off my debt, then get into a car crash and die...all that money went into nothing...Now if I buy a PS2...I get to play games...and then die...wait...that's not a good analogy...
also, buying a PS2 is like buying an continuing expense. Sure, it's 150 for the unit...but you'll want a few games, a second controller, a memory card...etc.
Pretty soon you've spent 300 already and you're thirsting for newer games.
dont bro. I' m in the same boat. if you have a passion just for film- you can do it. i havent gone nuts yet. you dont need video games to have fun. i just hang out with my friends. i try to stay away from video games- they take up too much time. it took a lot to do that- but so far so good. havent touched a game for a while, and i've gotten so much done concerning film.
I would agree on the time video games will eat up. I play them when i render but it takes alot of control to stop and get back to work once its time to edit.
