I need an opinion on this Steadycam...

Hey guys!
Just out of curiosity, I searched 'Stedicam' on Ebay, obviously spelled it wrong, but it automatically searched 'Steadycam' for me and found this auction that seemed too good to be true considering it's price. It's obviously not Steadicam branded, what with the arm not being AS articulated as the one that I see around, but, to me, it looks pretty promising. It seems like it would do a good job mimicing what the Steadicam does, but I'm not about to throw away $600 for something that I don't know about. So, if anyone has ever seen this and could give their thoughts on it or if anyone actually owns one of these and has used it and could give me a thumbs up or down I'd really appreciate it.

I was just in the market for a stabilizer and got a great deal on a Glidecam v-8 with vest and arm and am very pleased with it. What I learned on here is the Flycam stuff is very poorly manufactured, The bolts have a tendency to break and the spring wears out quickly. That vest doesn't look to comfortable either.

Of Course, just like with all pieces of equipment, some users on here will say, "Why not just spend the extra $6000 to get _____?" I had a hell of a time researching a tripod because of this. You just need to find something that fits your budget and needs more than a brand.

If you have any hesitation it probably isn't a good idea to buy, listen to your gut. If you hold out you might be able to find a better deal on eBay or on here.

Thank you for all your input!:)
Just wondering how much did end up paying for that Glidecam?

Do your self a favor, and save for a second hand Steadicam Pilot. Even a Co-Pilot or Merlin will function far, far better.
If your really stuck for cash, go here, http://hbsboard.com/. You can make something better, cheaper, yourself.
The key to Steadicam is balance and isolation. You will get neither with the Ebay device, your just paying hundred of dollars for some pressed and folded metal, bolted together in and arbitrary design.

I paid $1300 for the setup

So you paid $1,300 for this:

If I could ever get that for that much I'd be a very happy man. I'll keep my eye out for one.

I actually came across HBS today, but kinda bypassed it for some reason. I'll look around HBS more when I get a chance. Thanks!

And I don't think I'm gonna go for the Ebay thing. The way you worded it's design is both horrible and true. There is a guy selling a Merlin on the Marketplace, tho. I'm currently aquiring about it, so, we'll see how that goes.

Thanks guys!!

I second that.
instead of wasting $1300 on questionable quality device, get yourself merlin,
it was made for cams like HVX, FX1/7 , Z1, A1; with EX1 I had to switch to the full rig, but as I said earlier , I really want cameras to come down in size so I can go back to hand held stabilizer
hopefully with scarlet :)
