I need a new computer - SUGGESTIONS?

I need a new computer. This one has had its fun.


Any suggestions (Think PC - and kind of reasonable, okay?)?

Custom... get the parts and build one yourself... best way to go IMO.

Ok, I'd go for a 64bit Athlon, or a P4 Dual-core. You might be able to pick up an older P4 (without dual-core, but has a high clock speed). I'd get at least 1gb of ram. Don't skimp on a video card. This machine would be for editing right?

Start with the Dual Core AMD CPUs. For the money, nothing else comes close.

I never count the monitor when budgeting for a system... I always figure that will be the cost of the system.

Just hit the "software I would be using on this computer" site and plan from there.

For home use I overkill as I use it for many things, but for a work box I only build for the software I use on it and have more than one

Yeah it will be multi-purpose, but mostly for editing. Maybe a video game on it or something as well? Haha.

I just won an athlon 64 x2 3800+ in a film contest .... wanna buy it? (i have a mac and you would have to wait 4 more weeks for it to come.) No ... ok then.

I would suggest building your own as well, my personal favorite site is tigerdirect.com, they have a lot of good barebones kits. My roomie just got a new laptop from ibuypower.com and it kicks ass (was like $1500). I would check there first.
