I have 3 janebeam 800 Watts lights and need a box to carry them. Best would be not too heavy with wheels. I want to carry it on a plane (not in the cabin). The box/case needs to be at least 25 cm wide and 85 cm long. Any ideas for a cheap solution?

As one who travels a lot with my gear I think you'll want a hard sided case that will really protect your lights while they are being manhandled by airline employees. To gain that kind of protection you are going to have to think about spending around this much money. You can always go soft sided cases but just don't expect your gear to arrive in one piece.

You can also check out Storm Cases and Pelicans- but they will still be 2-300 dollars.

While it wont provide near the protection the case Jim pointed out you could use one of those rubbermaid storage tubs or large toolboxes and pack the lights with lots of towels or other soft things - clothes maybe? Its an option. I wouldnt say I reccommend it though - your chances of intact gear are much much higher with a proper case. I used to be one of the airline employees Jim speaks of (I was actually the one that was really nice to the luggage) and can attest to the intense abuse that the case will go through. Have also seen one of my large pelicans get thrown a few feet and bounce off of the luggage cart onto the ground. Survived the event with no problem at all. And that was with flo bulbs inside. Well packed mind you.

Might look into just renting at your location. Can be pretty cheap for just a few lights.

How about a road case like this?
I have one of these and they're tough.
Bought used for about $40

It was used to store audio gear for discotheques, now I store 3 arri lights with stands and stuff.
