Hi :)
I have a canon 7D and a canon xha1s.
I need a HD monitor with WAVEFORM to use with both (above all with the 7D).
Not a big monitor: 5,6" would be perfect.
I like the SmallHD but it has no waveform.
Do you have any suggestion?
Thanks

Smallest monitor I know with waveform is a 7'' model by Flanders Scientific (about $1800 without a battery option). There's just no affordable option with waveform, period.

All the Panasonic pro monitors have waveforms, including the 7.9" BT-LH80. It's not that there aren't any, it just may be that there aren't any cheap ones.

How portable does it need to be?

How much does it need to cost?

The smallHD DP6 will give you false color, a different, but equally effective manner of seeing where exposure sits on your shot, and it's onboard.

If you need something "less portable"

You could try this: ($1100)
http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-N82JQ-X1...2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1290909083&sr=1-2

with this ($565)
http://www.amazon.com/Blackmagic-Design-UltraScope-Colorists-Computers/dp/B003VQ8SWW

But that won't give you a waveform off of HDMI...

The flanders are really nice monitors....

Mr Green ....... :)
I'm looking for that kind of monitor after I have watched all your LIGHTING DVD, so it's your fault if now I have this problem...... :) :) :)
What can I do to have a 5,6" - HD - Waveform - CHEAP (less than 1000) MONITOR for my camera?
Praying perhaps?

I don't really know... I haven't kept up on monitors since buying my BT-LH80 a couple of years ago. I know there are things like "false color" on the SmallHD DP6, as mentioned by Dan... but I don't know which monitors (other than the Panasonic series) have them. Some of the cameras have them built-in now too.
