My geardear compendium and a cavision baseplate were delivered today and they don´t fit together, although Geradear promised so.
I need a 2cm spacer between camera and rods baseplate.

Is there such a thing, where do I get it (in Europe/Germany), how much is it?

Thanks for your help, Jason. I hope we find a stable solution.

Meanwhile, if anybody else has an idea about a stable spacer, about 2cm thick (1inch or less), please post.

the compendium is adjustable in height, but this is minimum, so 1.1cm are missing as seen on the attached photo. Maximum would be 2.8cm. So a 2cm spacer would be ideal.

2 cm is almost exactly 3/4" why not go to a machine shop and have them chuck up a piece of aluminum in there lathe and rip you off a 2" diameter spacer, it would take them all of about 5 minutes.

It´s not that easy: the 4 screws have to be in place exactly and must be accessable from both sides. It is cheaper and easier to use something that already exists.
If I don´t find anything, a spacer has to be built, but this is the last option.

There must be something like a "fast connector" (don´t konw the english word) from tripod to camera, for tripods that only have screws.

Hi daktulus,

I have a "baseplate" from www.Geardear.com , it fits perfect underneath the camera and brings my HVX200 to the standard height, that you can use all other standard accessories like follow focus and 35mm-adapters (M2 or SGPro etc.) with it.

I think, it is bad, that Cavision does not care about the standard height and does not give you some shims with their definately too low rods system to adapt the correct height. There is more equipment which needs the standard height...

When I was looking for equipment, all the Geardear offers matched the correct standard height, so I ordered their "baseplate" and their mattebox, and I love it...
Maybe you can contact them again, I would be surprised, if they can not offer a solution for your problem...

counterstatement

Geardear has never promised that the chosen Cavision baseplate will fit with our mattebox, on the contrary I have said, that this baseplate is way too low for any standard equipment even if it is height adjustable and he should better choose our "baseplate" which brings the camera to the standard height .

But in the end Mr. Weinert (daktulus) did not buy anything from Geardear, so it is even more unfair to try to blame us...

Best regards

Gerhard

I sent Geardear a photo of the Cavasion system I wanted to combine with the geardear compendium, asked if it fits and Geardear (Gerhard Hirsch) answered: "Yes, that fits" 01/13/2008 - That was the final email before I ordered.
Do you deny this email?

Ulrich,

I got a solution for you. PM me your email address, I going to send you a photo, easier to explain this way.

Thank you very much, Jason!
The Cavision spacer is great: height adjustable and rock solid.
:-Happy(DBG):

All in all a very cool setup: the Geardear compendium looks great too.
