I May Be Switching To FCPX From Premiere Pro CS6. Here Is Why....

quicktime prores. I have tried others as well. FCPX works like a charm in every single way.

Well, I can see how it would work for ProRes, but you'd still have to compress it for H.264 or MPEG-2 delivery, so that takes away the speed advantage outside of mastering.

You can export ProRes and H.264 at the same time, too. Or export one, then while it's exporting in the BACKGROUND, start the second export. Either way.

My consulting clients, seasoned professional students, and the pros in my local FCP users group who are using FCP X all say the same thing. The workflow and tools allow for much faster, smoother, more intuitive editing, leaving more time to be creative.

Fact is, more and more apps are dropping EDL and moving to XML. I've been watching this over the past decade. EDL is just so limited. I don't really know anyone who's actually done an EDL export in longer than I can remember. It is rare the editor I've personally worked with who needs EDL. But for the very few who still do, there's an app for that.

I agree with you Ben that EDLs are very limited, but EDLs are typically still delivered in the turnover for post production sound, especially for feature films. In some situations, post sound used EDLs to assemble the original multi-channel production sound files using another application other than Pro Tools.

Well no it doesnt, because i can export the h.264 or mpeg at the same time as the prores, read the post on this page. FCPX is faster than premiere, and its faster than FCP7. Its cheaper than any NLE out there and as BenB has also mentioned the workflow is fast and smooth.

FCPX is just simply amazing. Period.

I agree! FCPX is just pure awesome!

You can export all sorts of flavors at the same time straight out of FCPX. Plus, you can send your export settings from compressor into FCPX. It's quite awesome. I can send out a master Prores, h.264, mpeg-2, and upload to vimeo all at once while continuing to edit.
Plus, the new update seriously speed things up. There are still some minor bugs to work out but there is NO WAY i'm looking at editing with anything other than FCPX. I started using it from it's launch and I'm glad I stuck with it. It's really grown up and when you see that it was written from the ground up, it's quite amazing. Best multicam editor PERIOD! PERIOD!

Agreed 100%. I kinda think its funny that there is a few people that keep trying to point out faults with FCPX. I think the fear that people have of change is just funny.

FCPX is hands down the best NLE i have used in 12 years!

Well, all high fives aside, I am planning to edit the music video I just wrapped on in it.

FCPX just plain rocks. Opened FCP7 and PP over the weekend and felt so out of place. Once you adjust and get the hang of FCPX it makes it hard to go back...
