Just to counterbalance my other thread but anyway I have another question sorry :) :
I used to be able to render avi on desktop or even my 500gb HDD but it now says in the video preview "recompression required" the progress bar is moving but no video can be seen on the preview but that text...

Are you sure it doesn't say "no recompression required"? When it says that, there's nothing to show in the preview because it's not rendering any frames.

Oh bugger again...You know the progress bar that I couldn't move out of the way? Well It did say............ "o Rendering required" But I didnt know...I just got worried that I saw no Picture...I tried mpeg4 which looks worse so Thankfully it's ok then...I dont understand because I've made an avi before witht he same settings and it would render them...that was in another clip from another tape...would that mean that the other tape wasnt filmed in the same way...I'm positive I havent changed anything on camera.

Anyway that's great news thanks :)

It probably means that you didn't add any effects and are rendering back to the same format as the original footage. If nothing needs to be changed, then no recompression is required.
