Lucky Duck
So people in my company approached me about outfitting the operation with a camera and, of course, I recommended the DVX100B. $8000 later, it came today, with Century Wide Angle lens, Sony pro headphones, Bogen pro head and sticks, Magic Bullet 2.0, Barry's book/DVD, Carrying case, batteries out the wazoo, a year's supply of tapes, monitor, 1000w softbox, yadda, yadda, the list goes on.
That's the last time anyone is going to say "we need a video camera, what do you recommend?" :engel017:
In all seriousness, we are intending on shooting a lot of events and putting some corporate videos together so I'll be leading that effort. It's pretty exciting to do more video work at the office rather than the drudgery of corporate graphic design.
Linda and I gave a presentation at our 10 year old son's classroom last week. We showed them some of our nature films and talked to them about photography and wildlife. My son said to me the night before, "make sure you bring the DVX!" He had all his classmates revved up to see this "big professional camera like the news guys have!" Gotta love that
On saturday, we are celebrating my 10 year old daughter's birthday party. We hired a choreographer to teach some dance moves to the kids. The girls have go go boots and I will be shooting a music video for them. They will be miming "Boots" by Nancy Sinatra. It'll just be for fun but think about the posterity value of it
We shoot on Saturday evening, the kids have a sleepover and then they will leave the next morning with a DVD of the finished vid in their little hands.
Haven't been doing much shooting recently aside from the odd shot of some wildlife outside in my yard. I'm catching up on life after shooting about 15 short films over the course of a year.
Anyway, stay tuned, I'll post Boots when it's done
