I Lost QuickTime Pro!!!

Somehow in the last week or two my QuickTime must have automatically updated to the newest version. However, now it says I must upgrade (and pay) to get Pro.

I have the Production Suite so I had QuickTime Pro up until about a week ago when I upgraded. Any suggestions on how I can get my Pro back???

Did you upgrade from Quicktime 6 to 7? If that is the case, yeah, you'll have to buy again.

To ask for your money for an upgrade their system performs almost automatically is really low. Damn you Apple.

Check the Appple discussion boards. I know a number of people have reverted because of the loss of the pro functions. If you upgrade your fcp I assume they'll supply an updated #.

No -- Production Suite no longer gives you a Pro number. Or if it does... it's still for 6.

Sorry.

90% of what you actually use QT for is free anyway. Yes, I have the pro version...

I was using Pro to convert my MP3s into AIFF files, I suppose I will just use Compressor instead. I will also look online and see about reverting back to QuickTime 6

that happened to me as well...
on a happier note, if somehow you upgrade your fcp to 5.0, it will unlock qtpro for you automatically.

They should put a warning on the FCP box saying, "WARNING: You will be pressured to upgrade every 8 months. If you do not upgrade, you will feel like a loser."

This is the first time we've had to pay for the new Pro.

Actually, they did a similar thing from QT 4 to QT 5 also. So really, they charge you to upgrade every other time. Maybe their ways of doing it are a bit questionable, but $30 every two years isn't too unreasonable is it? They have R&D like everyone else. Who doesn't charge for upgrades?? $30 for two years is $1.25 a month. You can always go back to QT 6 Pro, or use standard QT 7.
