I like soft! what brand now to use with 7d

Hello everyone, been a while since posting, have started shooting a bunch with the new canon 7d, love it! I must say though, I bought a few lenses (85 1.4 and a 135 f2) great lenses, but i must say, for the look I iike i like a softer image, I have been using my older nikon Ai and Ais lens from nikkor an like the images a lot better because they have (real life look) to them, I was was curious if anyone has used a certain brand of fast lenses that offer the same tones and looks that of a nikon for maybe a little less cash that can get mounted to a 7d? any ideas are great!

Oh wait.. you said LESS money. Maybe putting a light diffuser on the front would make a difference? Maybe a black pro-mist 1/8 strength or something to take the "curse" off.
