I know this is the ultimate n00b question. Simple cutting question!

Alright, my NLE experience is in Avid and Premiere. Both of which have simple razor tools that let you cut up clips and piece them together. How does the basic cutting work in vegas? I found the "trimmer" mode, but that seems oddly complex, only allowing me to make sub clips. A little help?

to use a razor tool, place the clip in the timeline and hit "s" where you want to split it. also you can just drag from either end of the clip to make it shorter. to create a dissolve or other transition just drag the two clips so that they overlap.

Also, make sure that the clip(s) you want to split is (are) selected before typing "s". If no clips are selected, all clips at the cursor are split. You can easily select a clip without moving the cursor by contol + clicking on the desired clip.

If you want to come over here and practice, I've got 3 hours of footage that needs to be edited down to 6:05
