I just need to vent...

I'm down to my last couple days with internet, and trying to make the most out of a network connection that is like a YoYo. I come to one of my favorite forums, and click "New Posts", to see what has been going on since my last visit, and am immediately told I have to wait 60 seconds between searches. What? I only clicked once! Honest! And just now, I was told there were no new posts! Horse Hockey! You can't go 10 minutes without somebody in the world posting here!

Now, it is bad enough that you go to search for something specific, and if you type the wrong keyword, or accidentally misspell it, you have to wait to search again. To be fair, the Board Execs have added features to help ease that, but what does a guy have to do to keep up with the happenings in a timely manner? I can literally search two othe forums for new messages in that time!

I've vented this same issue before... words too common, words too short, etc. and I have to wait to search again... people used to upgrade their perfectly capable computers because the newer one changed screens faster after the click.

I've been sold it's some kind of anti-spam feature... but I no longer blame people for not searching the archives anymore... because sometimes it's an easy experience... and sometimes it's headache-inducing as you try different terms or posters... and have to wait 55 seconds between the "sorry" messages.

Hmm, I wonder if some kind of Desktop application specifically designed for DVXusers could be created that would securely connect directly to the DVXuser database and allow some advanced searches, with the results returned as URL links to this forum.

Of course this application would require the same user login as per the forum.

If some monitoring is in place, any users who abuse the search via the application could then be black listed or simply refused connection...

I'm just rambling...

I just want to be able to check new posts without the wait. Again just now, I was told there were no new posts, when in fact, I'm on page 3 of all new posts.

Yeah, that 60 second thing is pretty annoying, but only when I search my own posts to look for replies.

An RSS feed will give you new topics easily, that's what I do, but only new topics.

And Anhar- It seems like that would be nice, but not worth the effort. Wouldn't scripts running on the site be easier? And it really wouldn't be a huge overhead, since the database needs to be read in any case.
