Mike Krumlauf
Award Winning Filmmaker
Even though my info says i've been here since 2006 thats actually not true... I had a few usernames before dating back to 2004. I believe i started as "Danny_Boyle" at the age of 13. Back when i was beginning to freelance and was trying to "fit in" with all the experienced players here. I had a Sony PD150 at the time and envied everyone with this magical DVX100. Looking back, I was a bit of a pain to some of the users but granted I was very young and wanted to know as much as I could. I returned to DVXuser in 2006 under the username "Four Eyed Monsters" to help promote one of my good friends' films shot on the DVX100. A few years later DVXuser made that rule to use only our real names and it was changed to mine. I've been working with cameras since 1999 and freelancing since 2003. The majority of what I know technically and creatively was self taught and I owe a fair amount of that to my earlier years here. I dont know how many people from that time are still on here actively as the community has really changed since then, but to those that are I wanted to say thank you. Thank you for putting up with a snot nosed but eager kid who was ready to get his feet wet in filmmaking. I owe more thanks to you than that POS film school i went to in my early 20s (such a waste of time and money). Before all the social media BS we have now.. this was the place I could go to as a kid/teen and talk to like minded people both pro and hobbyist alike about what I loved. It made me feel a little less lonesome during those awkward years of my youth. I'm rapidly approaching my 30s with a few awards under my belt.. a **** ton more experience.. and a hell of a lot more patience (maturity is a great thing isnt it :b).
I love you guys and thanks for making me feel welcomed for so many years.
