This is the cool thing about traveling for business. I'm over in London for BVE, and I'm walking into the hotel, and I literally bump into John Willett! Super nice guy. We chatted for a minute, and I'm going to his booth tomorrow to look at stuff.

Yeah. It was so random. Out of the thousands of people here I bump into him.

At IBC two years ago the hotel accidentally gave our room keys to someone else. That person happened to be the folks from VDB, the french boom pole manufacturer. What are the odds?

Hi Dave, grand master of space and time (or something like that - it said on your badge), thanks.

It was good to meet you, and I also met a few other forum people who popped by. It's good to put a face to a name on a forum as it's better to know who you are talking to..

I did see you the next day as well as you passed the booth, but BVE was extraordinarily busy with my booth buzzzing all the time from shortly after the start until the end of every day.

Actually the greatest interest was in the 4MinX location recorder, with people queuing to see it, and not the new broadcast wireless codec that I thought would have the interest - probably because there were not many radio people at the show.

But it was good to meet you at last.

All the best,

John

Ha! That's right. My official job title was "Supreme ruler of Space, Time, and Dimension" on my name badge. I did it as a joke way back when I registered for the show online and totally forgot about it. I didn't even look at it when they printed it out at the registration. It wasn't until someone pointed it out to me that I remembered.

Your booth looked pretty busy. The new mixer/recorder from Aeta looked really interesting. I wish I would have had extra time to hang with people. These business trips go by so fast that I run out of time to do stuff. I wanted to go see some of the sights, and I didn't really get to. However, what I did see of London was great and the people are some of the nicest I've met. You guys have some of the best traffic signs, too.

Don't be too quick to dismiss. The French are world-renowned masters of corporate espionage at all levels - probably second only to the chinese. Several clients have told me they routinely expect their rooms, luggage and computers to be searched within a day of arrival.
