I feel your loss. Both my parents died within a few years of each other, one of a brain tumor, the other of a broken heart, literally. My condolonces.

Wow. I can't even imagine what you must be going through. It's one thing to lose somebody when you know its coming. It's another to be taking so off guard with it.

Each loss of this magnitude is different for everybody. So, the only thing I can offer are my condolences. I think its good that you are talking about it. Talking seems to help collect thoughts and make sense of things. Even when none of it makes any sense at all.

Sorry for your loss. Try and keep your head up. Heart attacks are very scary. I know two people who died from them that were under the age of 55.

My thoughts go out to you and your family.

Thanks guys,

I just don't know what to do or feel right now. I broke down screaming in the hospital. But now I'm numb. I feel sick.

ky - this is what you can expect, you can expect to have this numbness last a good long while and it's fine, accept it, embrace it, because if you don't feel your hurt, it will take longer to heal up. You will find yourself thinking about your father everyday until that day comes, and it WILL come, when you will get through an entire day without thinking about him, and you will start to feel good again about things.

There is no time limit on this, so let yourself feel, scream, cry, allow yourself to be sad, that's the problem with most folks, they don't allow themselves to be sad. It will pass, but it will take time, and it's okay.

What Charli said. Don't try and force yourself to feel anything because you think you should. Just go with what you get. Grieving is a process that looks different at different times. You will get through it, but it will be a rollercoaster.

Blessings on you, your dad and your family. Our thoughts are with you..

I'm sorry for your loss. When someone close leaves I do a short review of his/her life. How successful it was, the meaning it had, what it did for this world. I believe your father lived his life to the full because he left his mark on this world by producing a family, being a musician he touched the minds and feelings of people, and being a politician he had the chance to influence the world in many ways. That's all a man has to do to live for ever.
