I just hate the word "unobtrusive"

Do you ever read the Wedding Videographers pages and see this word banded about and then hear the Videographers try and reassure people that they are really the best "unobtrusive" people in the business.

Next thing you will hear requests for people to show up with an array of potted plants to hide behind and camouflage clothing with codenames so as not to draw attention to themselves.

You just for once want to read a guy tell them like it is.......basically we will not be in your face but unless you want us to be in the church steeple with a 30x zoom attachment, then you are bound to see us from time to time.

Rant over...lol

And there you have it.......that sort of nonsense is what I mean lair.

It is sort of like people who have heard of the word Photoshop.....grasped a bit of the basics as to what it does and then expect people to be taken out of photos etc etc for $5.
"Eh......actually that will take x amount of hours"

You should have said to them that cameras are like eyes......if it seems dark to you then it will be dark to the camera too.
If you want miracles......Hire Jesus.

I really hate the words "prostate exam", but we'll stick with your topic for now. I have no problem with unobtrusive, and I try to stay that way. Even Uncle Fred who will every time walk right in front of your camera and stand there, I will move to a better vantage point. For me, I'm just there to observe another gig and record it. He is there to see his niece get married for the first time... maybe second time, if he really likes her enough to do it again.

I recently shot a wedding with somebody in Jacksonville, shooting video while the guy did the photos. He was in almost every frame, in front of the guests, and all over. Not very "unobtrusive", but that is his gig. The Bride and her Mom will want those shots, and never think about the guy who took them... until they watch the video.
