I just captured my 24pA clip, now a question.

I just captured my footage shot with a DVX100B on scene file 6 (which is still the factory scene file) using the NTSC with pulldown removal capture mode. When I look at the properties for the captured clip however, it shows it as a 29.97 clip. Is this normal? I created a new 24 fps sequence within my project and put the clip on the 24fps timeline and it looks fine, however it just seemed odd the clip wouldn't say it was a 24fps clip. I'll post a screen shot of what I'm talking about when I get to my editing rig.

Here;s a screen cap of what I was referring to.

Did you shoot in 24p mode, or 24pA mode? Regular 24p won't do the pulldown removal when you capture, 24pA will.

Did you have to render when you dropped it into your 23.97 timeline?

I don't understand it, but this happens to me all the time. I'll shoot in 24pa, and when capturing, some of the clips will read 23.97, and others 29.97. The fix is to open the clips up in "cinema tools" and "analyze" the clip, then drop it back in FCP, but it's still a pain in the arse.

Also, when I capture using the DVX itself (which I only do with 24pa footage, cause it just saves the hassle), it reads correctly.

Hmmm interesting. Yes, it did require that I render. Also I captured using a DSR-11. Good to know rcbrown, thanks a ton.
