Is there a way to seperate the 2 channels of audio the DVX gets into 2 seperate audio tracks on the timeline. If not how can you seperate the 2 channels???

depends on your NLE

in FCP you just deslect "stereo pair"

in FCP you can also set your import settings to capture as seprate tracks.

Seperating the two channels has to do entirely with your NLE, so without knowing what NLE you have there's no way to answer your question.

other than ...

yes it's possible.

Yes.

EDIT: OK I've been up for 24 hours writing -- just saw that this was posted under Premiere, lol. But good thing you gave the version number ... isn'yt premiere 2.o hella old?

haven't used premiere in over two years.

if your stereo sound appears on two different tracks (even though they are linked) try locking one of the tracks and then moving the other one.

As long as you actually recorded two distinct tracks -- i.e. two different things on each track you should be able to seperate them -- if you have recorded mono to two tracks then you are out of luck.

hopefully someone that knows that NLE can help.

Actually, in FCP you select audio 1+2 in the capture presets. You'll then have two discrete channles of audio. You can select them in the timeline and mark them as "stereo pair" later if you want.

Premiere Pro....hmmm...
should be something similar.

right ... or do the reverse ... capture them as a stero pair and then deselect stereo pair and you have two channels.

Either way they are discreet channels in FCP (or they wouldn't be stereo just dual mono) just a matter of whether they are linked or not.

milvid, yes you can separate two channels in Premiere Pro 2.0. Open Adobe Help Center and read about To map audio channels in a clip and Mapping audio channels

also..pages 235 - 237 in user guide. As Averdahl said you use Source Channel Mapping command or Breakout to Mono command; each can be found under clip>audio options>
