I have Photoshop, now what?

Runner Up.
I'm usually pretty good at picking up programs fast, but I have no freaking clue on how to work this thing. It's CS2 version 9. Anyone have any tips or tutorials I can obtain?

Dude

Check out the PS forum here (And of course Google other stuff)

Check out digitaltutors and look into Intro to PS

PS rocks even if it isn't very intuitive

I've been doing the tutorial below being led by Matt C and Rapier 100a and it is awesome. They are really showing how to use the program from the ground up(and what not to do) by retouching glamour shots. This is particularly useful becuase if you learn it well you could potentially trade your retouching skills to get an actor/actress who needs this done usually expensive job done to act in your film.

Hey guys, thanks for all the links! I appreciate the help. I know this is a great program and I want to be great at it. Once again, thanks!

I haven't checked out the PS forums lately because I've seen them talk about junk that looks like another language to me, lol. But I'll check in there soon.

Ya those guys are really taking the reins on that tutorial. Highly recommended to follow along if you're able.

It takes years to be "great" at Photoshop. I've been studying it since 1992 and I'm still learning. Take a course.....workshop....or buy a lot of books. There are some really good online courses such as vtc.com. Once you get the basics then look up Russell Brown online for some great tutorials.

One that I like is http://photoshopcafe.com/, they have a lot of good tutorials and tips and tricks. There is also a Photoshop World vodcast from the guys in NAPP. It's pretty good sometimes.

HA that's a buddy of mine. Colin's his name. He's been at it for awhile, he won a guru award or two for realism at NAPP. Also authors quite a few books. Good resource to check out for sure.

Also check out www.lynda.com. They've got video tutorials on tons of appz including Photoshop CS. You have to pay, I think it's a monthly fee but then you can download and watch as many videos as you want.

I feel that the video tutorials always work better than PDF tutorials. It's like having a teacher showing you everything step by step and it's impossible to miss something. I didn't use the Photoshop tutorials on this site in particular but I managed to teach myself ( the basics of ) Flash MX with this site in about two or three days.
