I'm working on a music video right now in Final Cut studio 2. This is my first time using multi-clip editing. For some odd reason only my multi-clip edits become blurry and distorted, almost like its dropping frames. I don't know what is going on because the master clips are fine. If I drop the opacity down and put it back up, the clip is fine again. If I save and re-open the program the clips are messed up again. All I have to do is alter the clips in some way where the bars at the top turn from blue to orange. It plays fine, but it keeps occurring.

It just makes no sense to me.

No idea, but it sounds in the realm of "weird computer suff" and not something you're doing wrong. Test some output and see if it's just in the program of if it's carrying over to your output. If you can get a clean .mov file out of it then at least you can get some work done while tracking down the cause of the problem.

Yeah thats what I was thinking of. I will check it next time I have access to the computer. Thanks

bump, anyone else have this issue. It's probably something in the preferences I'm not seeing. Its impossible to edit with.

The only thing I can think of is render problems. I know when I use FCP, sometimes my edits will be blurry before I render. It's so that you can veiw a real time clip. It's just lowering the resolution. It sounds like what may be happening here. Try rendering and then saving. Another thing to check is if your RT is set to safe or unlimited. In the screenshot it's on unlimited, so it will pre-render at whatever resolution your computer can handle, or not handle. More ram supposedly helps this problem, but I've always had 6.5 GB of ram, so I don't know. If this doesn't help, I would talk to apple's support people.
