I have a question about the lunch/breakfast of cast and crew members

Does it matter if I served for one week for lunch the same dish and then for the entirety of the second week, serve a new dish for lunch and then the entirety of the third week, a new dish for lunch or do I have to serve everyday a new dish for lunch to the cast and crew?

It doesn't matter if you don't care that they hate you. You can repeat a few times during the course of the shoot, or even only have three or four meals that you keep rotating through, but no one wants the exact same thing day in and day out.

That's for lunch. Breakfast can be the same basic meal each day with a couple of options.

Agree with Mitch, looking after your crew is a good investment. Keep breakfast simple and mix things up a bit for lunch.

Is this really ironpony with a new screen name?

No, Kid is not ironpony. Ironpony would have ignored the inference. Kid, ignore my previous response.

But really, if you were crew on a shoot, would you want to eat the same thing everyday? Sure it's easy on you, but not the crew. Be kind. You can be cheap on every other aspect of the shoot. But don't be cheap when it comes to food. Craftservice is one of the main components to having a happy crew that will want to work with you next time.

Just had a great idea for a film - a cast and crew on a film shoot at a remote location are fed the same meal every day for weeks on end until they go mad and plot to murder the caterer and director :)

Seriously, you need to offer some variety from day to day.

I had a friend come back from an extended job doing post on a tropical island. They were set up in a big beach house with frequent breaks to surf when the waves were good. The schedule was loose and the house was nice with amenities like a hot tub and a chef since they were away from any big towns. "Sounds like a dream job!" I said, then I heard all about the food and how he always felt hungry which cancelled out a lot of the dream aspect...I guess we'll put up with a lot, except when it comes to our basic animal needs like food.

....and this is not variety:

Monday -Domino's cheese pizza
Tuesday - Caesar's cheese pizza
Wednesday - Domino's meat pizza
Thursday - Caesar's meat pizza
Friday - Leftover pizza from Caesar's and Domino's

lol....I think I get what everyone is saying now, thanks for all the replies, I have a better understanding of how film craft services goes now. :)

i worked on a feature with six day weeks for seven weeks and this was a typical lunch
we never had the same meal twice for seven weeks

i wish they were all like that

and the breakfasts were even better

Don't forget/neglect the vegetarian option in any modest sized production! I still recall with delight that delicious mushroom and red pepper curry I had on a low budget feature earlier this year. i appreciated the fact that the production catered for us veggies.

May I just step in and say whatever you decide to serve, if this is feature length film you are going to be waaaaaay to busy and probably spread way too thin to micromanage things at that level. Find another person and let THEM handle all the food stuff.
