I just recently bought a KTek KE-89CC Avalon Series Aluminum Boompole for my Rode Blimp, and the joints of the pole never seem to lock in place. No matter which way I twist the joints, they never seem to tighten. Whenever I extend the sections, they fall back into their original positions. THIS BASICALLY ELIMINATES THE TELESCOPING FUNCTION OF THE BOOM POLE!!! I am very upset at this, just since the pole otherwise works fine, is light, and has a nifty XLR cord inside which I connect to my Tascam Dr 100 through its bottom connection. Is there a certain way to do this, am I twisting it the wrong way? Does anybody have any experience with this piece of audio equipment to know what I am talking about, its hard to describe unless your a Ktek Avalon boom pole user. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Contact K-Tek customer service if you think there's a defect A phone call should do it. And remember, looking down from the top of the pole, lefty loosey righty tighty. Make sure the section below the joint isn't also turning when you try to tighten the collar to lock an extension. Extend the pole from the mic end down. Pull out the top two sections, hold the larger of the two with one hand to prevent it turning and turn the locking collar between the two sections with the other. Tighten until just secure, shouldn't require gorilla strength tight. Tight to loose is about a quarter turn. Pull out the next section and tighen the collar between it and the top two. Continue until the pole is fully extended.
