it's a background to support an animated logo

i would like text to scroll from out of the left side of frame to a certain point in the frame for a designated amount of time is after effects the way to go?

i tried macromedia freehand but i can't figure that program out for the life of me

simplicity is key

also i would like to have the whole still reverse colors back and forth every 1/2 second any easy way to do that?

What's your final destination, video? Web?

For video, Aftereffects offers insane amounts of control over your moving elements, and a simple text scroll from left to right AE may be overkill, but can certainly do it. If your new to AE then it may be faster to do this in the NLE that your comfortable with.

But I _always_ recommend that editors develop at least a rudimentary understanding of AE, it can really help polish your projects.
