I hate banks

Just a bit of venting.. but..

I apparently owe the bank $7.71 now. As in, I am in the hole by that much money.

Apparently they can charge me interest on my loan whenever they feel like it... skip a month.... then charge me next month.. in no particular timeframe..

of course this being on top of the single monthly payment I was aware of.

I am angry right now.

WTF.. since when did banks have the ability to screw around with people like this? The nature of my work means I am not always on a steady bi-weekly pay cheque.. so knowing when exactly I have bills / loan payments due is a big thing for me.

grrr..

sorry I am just venting...

btw, this is TD CanadaTrust for anyone wanting to know.

Banks target young people with debit cards too. because they know youll end up owing them for all your outrageous spending. BoA, for instance.

And every debit card purchase is treated like a check. You can swipe the card three times & and they dont notify you that you have no money in your account. They just deduct $15 each time as if you bounced a check. And then they actually start charging you something like $30 once they know you are prone to bounce your debit card.

Not that I was a careless college kid or anything...

The ones that REALLY annoy me are the unsolicited offers of big loans.
I think the banks are utterly irresponsible for repeatedly offering large sums of money to young people.
Since I was 18, I had been on the receiving end of weekly offers for between £8K and £30K ($16K - $60K)
A month or two ago I phoned them up and gave them a real roasting (for the second or third time, I might add) and the offers seem to have stopped... :)

TD does operate in a strange way, but I really like how they handle my business accounts (both debit and Visa). They do charge interest out of nowhere sometimes and it is annoying, but overall I think they're a good bank.

I didn't like them and had left for a few years and have only been trying them out for a few months this time around, but they don't seem to be doing that bad of a job.

I find the best way to deal with a bank is by keeping in close contact with your bank manager. Although I havent had the SAME bank manager the relationship does have some bearing when there is a change or I change to another branch. Ive had fees such as this deleted in the past and currently have 0 bank fees on my accounts (not including credit card accounts). This usually requires you keep some kind of solid balance in your account. In Aus right now about $20K.

It's good to learn this lesson now when it's only a matter of 8 bucks.

BANKS ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS> THEY HATE YOU AND WILL SCREW YOU ANY CHANCE THEY GET>

It's a shitty reality but the one we live in.

Obviously the OP is rather young as what he's saying is akin to "I hate having bamboo shoved up my dikhole," obvious. Yes my friend, banks are the enemy of the people. The entire world is run by banks. They enslave everyone. I'm not being facetious here. It's true. The Federal Reserve has everyone by the balls, and they can make money out of thin air. Welcome to the machine.

My best advice is... don't get into debt and pay on time. Live modestly as a free man rather than lavishly as a slave. It starts off innocently, but when you're 30 and still paying for things you got when you were 22 and you have kids to feed.. the hook is already set and you're screwed unless you win the lotto. Beware of everyone offering anything as far as help. Manage your own money and learn to do it well and your life will be much better. The banks are expert scammers and they make the rules.

That penny ante , henhouse **** where a $2.00 mis-step turns into 30, 50, $100 nightmare is not the bank being incompetent. It's not the bank trying to make you a better person by slapping you on the wrist. It's how the world turns, the big man sticking it to the serfs.

I just got done with the horrible bank experience of trying to pay off my credit card through national city for the last couple years. (for my dvx)

They would automatically try to take money out my account earlier than scheduled (a few days earlier than posted), my bank account would go into the negative and they wouldnt tell me until it had racked up enough profitable fees for them to be happy. Because of it my interest went insanely high. It was a mess.
