i dont know you from a hole in the wall but thank the stars you have yet to hurt anyone else. that you are conscious of this thought is most hopeful.

i will speculate though that you have already hurt yourself PLENTY. alcoholism is the slowest form of suicide. get help. you are worth it. how do i know this? personally, of course, i don't. i feel we are all worth it. but if you wish for a meatier reason, here is another...

you post here, you are a filmmaker.

now go get help, meet your personal demons and battle em back, they need you, you do not need them. And then when you are ready...

FILM!

Truth is, most people have done it, whether they were caught or not. But you're also talking about a long-standing drinking problem. Very honest of you to talk about it, and maybe you're reaching out for help? I'm no expert, but it sounds like you can't stop drinking. And if it's a problem for you, you might find your drinking is altering your judgment so much that you will ALWAYS drive when you drink. I mean, after being busted several times, you'd think you'd have stopped by now, and you didn't. For some people, alcohol changes their brains. You sound like a serious, smart guy sober. But does that all change when you're drunk? The fact you say you could never stop drinking, but maybe cut back, is sort of telling. I mean, I like liquor, but it would be absolutely no problem for me to go completely cold turkey. It just doesn't have a hold on me. Sounds like it's a monkey on your back, though. If you are lookin' for advice here, I say try a treatment program and quit drinking altogether. Sounds like you and booze will never mix well. Just the way it is for some folks.

Luis?

I dont drive.
Have not driven in 24 years. Except tractors on a farm.

Not because I'm not allowed, not because I can't, because I choose not too.
Not out of guilt, no damn reason other that I dont want to.

I get the impression your looking for the negative in people.

Read and understand what I said, because I get the impression you are reading between the lines and looking for conflict.

Uh, well I haven't. I know my wife hasn't (although she didn't get a license until she was 30). And I know for sure my best friend hasn't because he's the only guy I know who's squarer than me. The most inebriated I've been was when I got my appendix taken out and they put me under...I don't like people making generalities like that. Perhaps most people who get drunk on a regular basis have done it. Anyway you slice it, there's no excuse for being that irresponsible.

Sorry Luis. I think I'm taking things out of context.
-Raptor going the hell to bed now.

No problem - maybe I should have written more than a few words responding to your post , I didn't mean to give the wrong idea - but yeah, we're on the same page. I'm definitely not looking for the negative, and not looking for conflict. When I said 'I figured as much' I only meant that I figured you were implying the same thing I was saying outright... basically, I was saying - 'I agree with you.'

Same goes for the rest of my response.
No worries.

Well, you're obviously not "most people." I think you're over-reacting a bit here, Batutta. It's somewhat telling that you feel you're being spoken to here, when perhaps you should have just ignored this, being one of the few that have NEVER driven after drinking.

I wonder how many people can honestly say, hand on heart, that they have never made a mistake. I'm not asking those people to speak up and say so, or for the others to say anything either.
My impression of this is that the cop assessed the situation and gave someone a chance to do the right thing. In view of the original poster's honesty both at the time and here in this thread, I'd be quite happy to leave the matter at that.

I am a bartender. (for fun) and I can say you really need to get your sh!7 together. just think of all the gear you cold have bought vs. paying our Govt fines.

tighten up and grow up.

if you thought it was funny, it isn't.

I live in FL. so here is some simple math...
1 DUI= hvx200+ANY 35mm adapter+mid-grade stix& head.
3dui's= the furure.

AA is no joke.

If you can't stop driving drunk, move to a big city. For New Year's, my girlfriend, our friends and I all took the bus. None of us were in a condition to drive.

It's easy to not drink and drive when you don't have a car. You should sell it, not supposed to be driving anyways.

When I was growing up, an entire family in my hometown was wiped out in a drunk-driving accident just like the one in Ohio. Except for the husband - he had to go on without his wife or their three kids.

I've personally lost one good friend to a drunk driver. The others who were in the car with him all had devastating injuries. One was so badly brain-damaged, she went from the high-school honor roll to its special education classes, with a months-long coma in-between.

If you can't simply stop drinking for a couple of weeks, you've got a problem. If you drink when you're alone - that's a major danger sign. Having a drinking problem, in my mind, is a completely separate issue from driving drunk.

It cannot be over-stated. Don't drink and drive. Please.
