Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am pleased to let you all know I finally put a website together and it is on-line. I am still getting all the links situated and the content is a little thin yet, but this is a work in progress.
My would be Horrorfest entry is up for your viewing pleasure.
Please feel free to comment via e-mail or through the blog.
Hopefully the second week will see some major changes to facilitate easier navigation and so on. There will be more video to check out as well as more photography.
Any advise or tips you think will help make it a more interesting and fun site will be greatly appreciated.

Congrats, the website feels like 1997 though. Gotta make it feel 2006, smaller fonts, easier navigation. Hook it up...

Yeah I agree, fix that ish up Will.

Keep it simple but up to date looking.

I do like the idea of posting a thread about having a new site though, time to make my new site thread..... hehehe

ummmm... is it just me or is it a little too big? you never want to make a site so large that you have to scroll sideways to see stuff (unless that's the point).

also, keep it clean and simple and clean. and no alien blobs and weird fonts.

take a look at these excellent sites to get some inspiration:

continuing changes

I have been busy making lots of changes and will unveil them in the next few days. I have listened and learned and tehn looked at some good sites and incorporated everything into the new design. Stay tuned.

Kill it, and start over from scratch. It's too loose, with no single theme to hold it together. As far as the size, I have found that making it fit on a screen at 800x600 makes it easy for everyone to read. On all pages, there should be links to any other page. And don't use more than two different fonts. This helps keep the whole site tied together.

do you have some form of site design software? fireworks, dreamweaver, Front Page etc? if you do it's a good idea to start with some tutorials or standard layouts and work from there.

not to be mean but right now it looks like you built the site in Microsoft Word.

here's a tip:

find a site you like and strip the code off it. then dump it into your favourite web editor and figure out how it works. that way you have a good starting point to work from.

other tips:

- no huge fonts
- no center justification unless it is integral to the design
- make a menu that stays the same on all sites and lets you navigate
- make a header (like the earth thingy you have on the front)
- make the site small enough to fit on a screen (scrolling is annoying)

I have a pile of good resource pages at home you can look at. they have free templates, good tips and do's and don'ts of the trade. I'll post them when I have time.

keep working tho. you're improving already. I'm sure you'll have something really nice in a few weeks :o)
