So which format is the best to render my films in vegas? i use vegas pro 10. The videos i edit on it is on .mov format which have been taken by canon eos 550d. the quality is very good so i want to keep the same quality, does anyboydy knows which is the best way to render the videos for the best quality? thanks

The answer depends on what you'll be doing with the rendered output - creating DVDs (standard or Blu-Ray)? uploading to YouTube? Most types of output will require some compression.

The best way is to render to a lossless codec, like Lagarith or UT Video. (google them) In Vegas, render as AVI and select the appropriate codec. Lagarith for compression (lower file size) or UT Video for a great balance of speed and compression. Obviously, these files will be several times larger than your 550D files, but about 1/4th that of Uncompressed. Alternatively, you can also try DNxHD if you want smaller file sizes. A more complicated but most efficient option is x264VfW, render in Lossless 10-bit mode or a low CRF, with a Very Slow preset. Might want to read up on that. x264 is much more efficient than intraframe codecs like DNxHD or ProRes, but takes longer to render.
