I cannot start After Effects CS3

When I try to open AE CS3 i get a dos popup that instantly disappears, however i managed to photograph it, and it says the following;

OMP abort : Initializing libguide.lib, but found libguide40.dll
This may cause performance degradation and correctness issues.
Set environment variable KMP_DUPLICATE_LIB_OK=TRUE to ignore the problem
etc.

Anyone else encountered this problem?
How can I alter the KMP_DUPLICATE file?

Sigurd,
I have received this message a number of times in After Effects 6.5 and 7, but not CS3 which I see you are using. For 6.5 and 7 I had to uninstall and reinstall to get AE functioning again. Good luck.

Thanks, I tried that, but it still seems to be the same thing happening.
If it helps I'm on a HP pavilion dv6750 with a gforce8400m and 4gigs of ram, and I'm running vista.
I'm thinking it might be some BIOS settings stuff that I don't really understand that may link something wrong somewhere. Comps are not my strong side.

I have the cs3 master suite, so it seems I have to install the whole thing every time I gotta reinstall.

Here are a couple things to try

-change your default Language to Chinese and restart
-change back to English and then restart

sounds crazy, but it fixed my AECS3

I also heard that deleting the preference file can help, but i would look up the errors on google...I usually find a fix for such issues

thanks!

thanks!

Hot damn, that actually worked, and here I thought it was some trick to make me have to find the control panel in chinese.

Thank you, I think I'm in love.

Here's the actual fix:

Right-click on the desktop icon: My Computer. choose: Properties, then Advanced, then Environment Variables, then New enter as name: KMP_DUPLICATE_LIB_OK, enter as value: TRUE exit with OK

another strange fix for abobe programs is to open one that works! Sometimes AE will crash so ill open photoshop first, then open AE then close photoshop and have no problems. This happens also with PDF files.
