My take on this is as follows:

(Q) What is the core function of Hollywood?

(A) To generate money in exchange for entertainment.

It is for this reason that Hollywood is not an artistic form of expression, it is a business model. It will produce films that have one function that is only to sell. The more a particular film has the potential to sell the more likely that Hollywood will make that particular movie.

It is for this reason that Hollywood looks more like a movie "factory" then a centre for visual artistry or storytelling.

Ah...You have just explained the whole reason why nothing original has come out of Hollyweird for years and the reason behind all those crappy remakes the last couple of years...i.e. "The Duds of Hazardous to my intelligence quotient."

Thanks Anhar!

What you do is your gig as long as it doesnt affect me.

That sums up my stance on so many issues. It really frustrates me when people think that their beliefs (religious or otherwise) should translate into the law of the land.

I think this film was greenlit because of the built in controversy. I think Hollywood is going for "Passion" dollars on this one.

If it is a bore like someone previously suggested, than that's a serious lack of skillson Ron Howards part. This book is written like a movie, just don't dumb it down. From what I've read that's what they did. They don't use the dialogue as much as needed, and they keep the action tense. Eh, Hollywood...

To me every book has some flaws, I'm sure the Da Vinci Code has flaws to it, and that it's fiction, but I'm sure there are some truths in it. I can also say the bible is definatley not 100% accurate either. When it comes down to it look at both; the flaws that are in one are probably made accurate in the other. The bible is a collection of stories, no? An anthology if you will; and I think the main reason why we want to believe 100% of it is because we can relate to it. Unlike aliens or the loch ness monster, which people can find hard to believe because these things aren't visbile to us every day. The Bible is a story of man.... human.... We believe in something we can connect to. And since nobody has questioned it before, we've grown accustomed to it being the thing we know as right, and we assume it to be 100% accurate.

Its not really about religion Horse... its about history. Historically the bible can be backed up... Many secular scholars documented what happened during the time of Christ and it matches what is said in the bible... Anyway, I won't get into any debates here on the forum about opinions and beliefs, but history is fact.

If only it were that easy.

It used to be, but now we live in a postmodern world where the lines between fact and fiction have been blurred with each person's view of the world.

History is the most biased study out there. There is nothing black and white about it, because it is only told by the winners/victors. The other sides' voice gets silenced and eventually erased through time. It's always through the eyes of who's documenting it.

Not trying to debate, just my 2 cents.

I would love love love to get in a religious debate....but I won't. Must resist...urge to....

How about a nun joke instead? :)

Two Scottish nuns have just arrived in USA by boat and one says to the other, "I hear that the people of this country actually eat dogs." "Odd," her companion replies, "but if we shall live in America, we might as well do as the Americans do." Nodding emphatically, the mother superior points to a hot dog vendor and they both walk towards the cart. "Two dogs, please," says one. The vendor is only too pleased to oblige, wraps both hot dogs in foil and hands them over the counter. Excited, the nuns hurry to a bench and begin to unwrap their dogs. The mother superior is first to open hers.

She begins to blush and, then, staring at it for a moment, leans to the other nun and whispers cautiously, "What part did you get?"

Or who's paying to have it documented. What you say is dead on. Then there's always translations of historical records which can be heavily distorted (either intentionally or by accident).

But the thing is... so many different people, enemies and allies were documenting the things during the time of Christ, and the ones that were really written during that time all can be matched up... I've done a lot of homework on this :)

Can you be a little more specific as to what you are referring? Which things were documented and by whom?

Nice on, Isaac.
