I Am Quitting Smoking Monday.

John, if you smoke 25 cigarettes a day. Is that a pack a day? Since I don't smoke I have no clue.

But just think at $3 to $4 bucks a day times 365 days. There's your HVX in a couple of years.

Good luck.

Gary

Gary, that's a pack and a quarter a day (most smokes are 20 to a pack). Also, those were San Diego CA prices too right John? (like $6.00-$8.00 bucks per or something if I recall)

Well

When I first started smoking a pack of Marlboro was $1.10 to $1.25. Over the last 21 years they have climbed seemingly yearly ever so gradual. $0.05 here, another $0.10 there...

Today; I can get a Carton (10 Pacls of 20) for $34.00 to $37.00 (depending on ads, promotions, which stores you run to) which is $3.40 a pack.

I have been in Gas Stations however where they charge like $6.00 a Pack.

Hey John!

Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking. I was a smoker and quit 7 years ago, never looked back.

Couple pieces of advice - stay away from drinking - that can relax you and let your guard down "ah, just one isn't going to hurt" - until you know you've beat it.

For me, it took me 2 months before I knew I was clear (clear of daily temptations, grinds, anxiety, etc).

7 years later - my clothes don't stink, my apartment smells fresh, my teeth are white, and I *rarely* ever get any sort of thought of "maybe just one?". And when that happens, its just a simple "no" from my mind and that is that.

Now I can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke. I cant stand to smell it on other people, get annoyed at people who smoke in public and flick those disgusting ashes all over the place. I find cigarette butts to be ugly hideous things.

Not to mention that I can run 2 to 3 miles without being winded either.

Keep on going dude. Just a couple weeks more and you're over 90% of the battle.

Congrats and hang in there.

Dillon

Oh yeah...

BREATHE.

BREATHE DEEPLY.

BREATHE and count to 10. And BREATHE again.

That is an instant relaxer if you just breathe really deeply and slowly a few times.

Do that anytime you want that cigarette.

Dillon

Well, you are certainly going to save a lot of money, along with your health.

Overall, you would have spent $15,000+( I rounded down) just on cigarettes.

Hang in there, you will thank your self later.

Just got back from a nice night out, full of smokes...

Been working (a good thing), but this is the first thread I looked for. It deserved a bump. I met someone this evening that was just as inspiring as John. Looking for more inspiration I guess. Maybe someday it'll just take balls. We'll see.

Anyway, how's it going, John? Catch me up.

Do it my man; we ain't spring chickens anymore. Do it for the children. It is so easy. Way easier than I made it out ot be. It's simply sheer will-power and determination.
