Jarred, water is helping you more than you know. But the main idea was to distract you from eating. :) If you drink enough, eating is impossible.

Has anyone mentioned that you'll find out you've eating things for years...that you really don't like? (too many pages to check through...)

Dan

I'm doing great; really. One time today I had a 'craving' and it passed after about :30. The few days prior were B R U T A L. Really bad.

Serious; I thin kthe NIC is gone from my body. Weird. I'm waking up with more energy too.

I'm doing alright.

Awesome.

21 Years; over a pack a day adn 90 hours later I'm doing good.

John, quit counting hours now. It is over, you are officially a non-smoker, unless you decide to take it up again. :) But the detox isn't over yet, be prepared for a wicked craving at some point. Keep drinking water.

If you need to count, count days and weeks and months and years. Personally I think counting reinforces that you "gave something up", when in fact you actually gained health, energy, and a better taste for food. Good for you !!!

John-Jarred just sending my best wishes...I've promised to give up when I marry in Sep, so I'm sure i will be re-reading the whole thread...Your doing great.

Agreed, best wishes. I've been following this thread. Once I grow the balls you guy's have displayed I'll make my move.

I have a couple little rascals myself, and there's not a day that passes that I don't think about the years I'll lose with them...it sucks.

To be honest, the worst feeling is when I sneak out the front door around the corner and my 4 year old follows me. I always have to come up with a reason why he needs to head back into the house. I fall short every time, I mean, how do you tell your kid to go back inside the house while daddy smokes? I fumble my lie every time. Granted, it's the only time I lie to him, but I shouldn't have to do that ever, right? You would think so...

Hang in there.

Today has been the single worst non-smoking day yet. Over 7 days without a single drag or puff; over 180 Hours without.

Today has sucked hard. The initial 3 1/2 days of physical withdrawl did not hurt so much. I was more overwhelmed with the sensation of experincing physiucal withdrawl than actual being pissed about it; I found it curiously exciting to have my body feeling the way it was.

But, over 7 days later. The entire day i have wanted a smoke; and everyone smokes now. You notice it everywhere; you smell it on people walking by.

Today has been hard. ****; can I at least have a Chew? Coppenhagen? A Bandit? Something? Of course not.

Today has sucked hard.

Is Wacky Tobacky against the rules?

That's a gateway to Grateful Dead, hacky sack, Doritos and friends named River Star Moon Junction. I'd rather smoke cigarettes

Go John Go.

This is just the next stage of detox. On the other side of every "harder than before" day, there is freedom. Drink more water. Start a modest exercise program. If you really want an answer (harder but quicker), drop me an email or PM, but the solution I will suggest is not for public consumption.

The fact that cigarettes are everywere and and you notice it means you have made HUGE progress. Don't give up in the last mile of a marathon.

I'm hanging in there; I have always had some bit of self-disipline

I am working out; usually do anyway. I eat right and drink tons of water; nice zone snacks etc etc etc

Solution? Tell me tell me! PM my ass with this knowledge man!

Ya; today was hard. The Guiness took some edge off.

As it often does, just don't let it become your crutch.

I don't think I've said this yet, but good luck brotha. I'm glad that your doing it, I've been bugging my roomates to quit, it has not worked yet, but I'm hopin'.

Stay ever vigilant.

Just curious, how did you do a Guiness without a smoke? Even when I've tried to quit, a beer just sucked me right back in. All the best, I hope I can make the same move soon.

That's a good question Alv....

They seem to say cutting off the triggers will help. But I say "Screw that." They sau Cut-Off Coffee and Iced Tea, they say Cut-Off Alcohol. They say Cut-off anything that might trigger a response. I smoked 25 cigarettes a day for 21 years. EVERYTHING IS A TRIGGER.

I'm still drinking Coffe and Tea, I am still going to have a beer. I'm not quitting EVERYTHING.
