I Am Quitting Smoking Monday.

Stick with the program, buddy. Think about a nicotine aid if you need it. Do what you need to to make it work.

During finals week at school I was up to five or six cups a coffee a day. Today I only had only one and didn't get a headache, but I've had nasty headaches for the past couple weeks.

Thankfully I don't smoke. After speed smoking a massive cuban cigar in half an hour and almost vomiting, cigarettes make me naseous. Of course, I only have any interest in them when I'm drunk enough that vomiting is a possibility anyhow. I'm working on that habit, too, but thankfully it's not really a problem at all right now.

Oh well, good luck. I have friends who smoke only a few cigarettes a day and still struggle with them. I imagine it's a hard habit to kick, but ultimately rewarding.

Coffee is a healthful addition to your regular diet and caffeine has been proven to increase productivity beyond the buzz we more often associate with the narcotic. Now, what you dump into your coffee is another matter entirely - sugar, chocolate, cream and milk among others don't do much for the cholesterol levels.

I drink double espresso all day long and I'm just fine.

Yes and no (btw I.N.A.D.) Because of my espresso drinking habit I spent a little time looking into the effects of caffeine. It turns out that too much caffeine is not necessarily good for those that suffer from high blood pressure, heart conditions, stress, sleep disorders, or other psychological problems.

Hang in there John...

you need a heavy bag. .. and when your craving hard core, just go rock the things world. then youll be to tired to even get up off the floor to get ...well , anything. :)

stay strong man.

good luck John... I really hope that you can manage and thumbs up from me!! Keep up the good work. Felt inspiered myself. Today i'm giving away rest of my sigaretts, now i will try to end this stupid deadly habit. Where i live a pack of smoke cost approx. 12 USD and i rater spend that money on solid equipment :)

And for all you other smokers out there; hope that john's example could be a good inspiration to us all.

i've never smoked but a few cigarettes in my whole life, and thats only when drunk.

i also don't eat any candy or sweets, and I usually have one cup of coffee and maybe 1 coke during a day.

Unfortunately I drink about 2 liters of vodka a week, so um, yeah :P

I am a one cup of coffee per day girl, and only one Starbux doodiddy on the weekends, smallest size they have. I go non-caffeine the rest of the time. Even in tea, no caffeine. I guess I am lucky that I dont smoke and never have. My body doesnt tolerate (or maybe process alcohol) very well. I am currently trying to cut out sugar, and its nearing attemped manslaughter levels in aggitation.
Yeah, but we all know your other vice - fluffy pink slippers! Nobody's perfect!

Now that I couldn't resist replying Terri's post which brought me to the end of the thread from the middle, I don't have the patience to read it all.

Many great and supportive posts. John and Jarred, congrats on the decision, I wish you good luck!

I smoked occassionally when I was a teenager (usually just Fridays and Saturdays which were my days on the dance floor - long live disco!). I 'quit' about a week before I met a girl at the age of 17 - she saw to it I never started again. Twenty five years later, both she and I can't stand cigarette smoke. I helps when you think of someone you love when you get the craving.

My dad, that's another story. He smoked for fifty years. After quitting about a hundred times, he finally succeeded about nine years ago - no patches or other aids. What made him do it? A friend of his had his leg amputated because of smoking-related disease (I am not sure which one, and don't know the medical terminology anyway. I don't go to doctors  ).

I really wish you make it guys!

Nice,

I quit smoking after years of it. Being a musician....I had the hardest time.
What I came to learn after numerous attempts was I had to change my habits. Smoking in the car, Smoking after eating, Drinking & smoking.....(I just quit drinking too.) whatever leads you into that "habit area"

Looking back on it and how nasty it is....I worked as a Pawn Broker and I was disgusted at the Golden Tar Hue that encompassed peoples belongings T.V.s and Cameras etc. It was sticky and near impossible to remove.

The usual bad breath is gone, I can breathe, I can taste food, & on the plus side women smell even better than I can remember!

Cheers!

Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I want a smoke. I want I want I want. I had 1 yesterday; smoked half; felt guilty; put it out. I had 1 today; smoked less than half; felt guilty; put it out.

Agggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg! My wife comes home tomorrow; there'll be NO "Having one."

I can do this. Tomorrow my goal is NOT HAVE ONE AT ALL.

You are so right. Well; to go from 24 a day to a half of one a day is kind of okay. :/

But you are right. I'm actually doing okay right now; no fits or stress. I broke down at 8:30 am and it's now 12:30 pm. I am sucking water down like a fool though.

I WILL DO THIS.
