and no, not about me. LOL. Doc doing a Doc.....get it? LOL!!!!
Just got picked to be Senior Producer for the sequel/next chapter of a doc that won an Oscar a number of years ago. We have the tentative blessing of the producer of that production to go-ahead, as we are going to be giving them re-exposure as well.
I am pretty stoked about it. Tonight, I start putting the line item budget together, so we can develop a plan for funding (which I really don't see being an issue, considering the subject and pedigree) We will have approx. 3 weeks of principle photog on location, with the possibility of breaking it up into two parts.
Let's face it, the production crew will consist of myself (producer/sound), the director, a DP/cam-op, and a PA. Pre-pro is being handled by myself and the director. Where a lot of the budget is going to end up is in post. We want to make this a homage/and expansion/"since then" of the first film, as well as what is happening now and what is the same or changed. Everyone is going to be paid on this. The director and myself both agree. People's time is too precious for begging. Once the plan is set, you might find a post in "Jobs" from me. And we will be providing all equipment. Those involved only need to show up with their experience.
So, the question is budget templates: What do YOU use? I found this one awhile back and I use it pretty regularly: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?34947-IndieBudgetBuddy-2-0-Free-Film-Budget-Estimator and I like it, but it is a bit dated. But what others are out there. I want something exhaustive. Something I can plan on how many AA baterries I need for flashlights on set kind of exhaustive.
