I AM LEGEND finally set to shoot?

Hey folks, Harry here... I AM LEGEND... Richard Matheson's brilliant work, twice adapted to screen thus far.... Once by Vincent Price (the best version) then most iconically by Charlton Heston. This third adaptation has been a thing of legend in its own right. From the adaptation by Mark Protosevich, which was nearly perfect save for the pandering ending required by Warner Brothers... It has seen different producers and directors as often as... well as Warner's own SUPERMAN. Well it looks like Francis Lawrence, director of CONSTANTINE, has finally tamed the beast. I'm hearing that Will Smith will star... which makes this his first foray into horror. He's fought Aliens and Robots... so why not Vampires. Personally, I can see this... but only if he gives himself over to the tragedy of the role. The melancholy of being the Last Man on Earth. Now, if they're planning on actually shooting this in New York.. that means a pretty huge scale for this. Both previous adaptations were in the more sprawling Los Angeles. Let's see where this goes, I just hope they've kept the books ending... after all, the title isn't I AM A LIVING LEGEND...

you never know, and things' could still change.. Plus I liked Constantine, I didn't think it was the greatest, But I think the director is only begining and could pull of an awsome telling of this.

I was impressed on what Francis Lawerance did with Constantine... John, I don't know if you checked Constantine out yet, but I think a movie of IAML magnitude could be done well by this guy.

Though I never read HellBlazer(comic Constantine is based off of), I felt that there was integrity and a sense of reality in the way he brought the story to the screen, and he really worked character development and relationships way more than action sequences.

Will Smith... well it would guarantee at least one weekend tops at the box office.

Who would you have as a lead?

Smith would not fit as Neville. Nope nope nope nope nope. Never would Neville say "I KNOOOOW you aren't trying get in here, Courtman!"

They're thinking with their wallets, not what would best suit the project. And sadly enough it will probably work in their favor. Will Smith fills seats, even when he's bad his films still make money.

I was going to work on this movie back in 1997 when it was going to star Arnold Schwarzenegger and was also going to be directed by Ridley Scott. My oh my... have times changed.
