I am in love.........

Worked an overnight shoot, where they said "just show up, we got the gear".

Walked on set with a little trepidation, as this was a student film, but they agreed to my day rate. Been on those where the gear, well, let's just say, was lacking.

But on this set, they had a Shure FP33, SD 702T, and a KMR-84 mic waiting for me. Of course I had to put the gear all together and set levels, as it was all in pelican cases. Of course they didn't have all the cables needed, but ol' Doc never leaves home without his audio scrounge bag.

I want a 702T. I have only used them in messing around, or helping set it up and jam syncing cameras. But for this shoot, it was mine.

I hope they didn't mind getting it back with all the drool on it.

... I feel ya', been in love with my 722 since getting it a few years back. Cost a lot, but WELL worth it!

i never ever trust the "show up, we've got the gear" line. there hasn't been a single shoot when i've needed something major, be it lav mics, battery cups and mics. even with higher end clients and especially those who wire different people all the time. i think you got lucky, tho i'm not a fan of the old shure mixers, but having that 702t evened it out ;)

I really like the 33. It's pretty straight forward. Slight noise, but for run and gun work, I am pretty satisfied with it. I think I am going to sell my Rolls 442 (yeah, you don't need to say it) for help pay for one. (after a few more gigs)

When I do a "we've got the gear" thing I always ask what they have. And they have to say it in detail. So not "a mic" but the type etc... Same with the mixer, recorder...

I always pretend that they don't have batteries and cables.... Batteries is realy something....almost everyone forgets.

A boom I also bring myself or at least the boompole...

Yes, even the mixpre is a quality piece of gear from SD. It's made a huge difference in my audio quality. They really do know how to build em. I assume Nagra can still do it too.
