I am confused my friends...

So I am shooting my first feature. After few days of shooting I got crisp sound (boom with ME66 recording directly into my cam) for the first 4 days but starting from day 5...there is a static all the time - I cant hear it while recording (headphones SONY 5620) but can hear this noise (like someone breathing into the mic) while listening it on my crappy speakers I bought in Circuit CIty.

So, how come I cant hear this noise on my headphones while recording and then, while listening to my sound on the shitty speakers I hear thouse sounds (like when you are moving your hands while holding the boom or like someone is breathing into the mic). I am confused.

I thought that my boom guy screw the job but I did some testing and while the mic is on the boom I still get those sounds - they appear as soon as I push Record - ! I also did record some dialogs without boom - just a mic on the Seinheiser shot gun and there was no noise. But again, then I recorded with a boom and...there was no noise again. So, sometimes I got those sounds when I use a boom and sometimes not.
Should I use a gloves while holding a boom? Gardener gloves?
But anyway I am not moving my hands while holding the boom...
Help.

Re: I am confused my friends...

Hmm.

Have you tried other speakers to make sure the problem isn't in the speakers?

What sort of boom are you using? Some of them transmit a lot more noise then other.

When you're recording the sound, have you tried using different mic cables or the same mic cable? Have you been careful about where the mic cable is placed? (ie-not close to any EM sources)

Out of curiosity, how long is the cable you're using for the mic?

Are you recording with any sort of automatic gain control on the mic, or are you adjusting the levels manually? Is your mic phantom powered from the camera or from the mic's battery? If from the mic's battery, have you tried changing the battery?

Is the mic input set to MIC level?

Have you tried moving the cable at the XLR connector while listening? It could be a bad connection inside the XLR.

Have you checked the cable for signs of damage?

I can't think of anything else to check right now, but I'll keep thinking about this.
