I am back, and I need to be eviscerated

Greetings all. I am back from my self-imposed, 7 month exile. This damned site is just far too interesting and I had to make the decision to stay away so i could get some work done. I just have no self-control. Sometimes, not even over my bladder.

But that brings me to the purpose of this post. One of the things I did this past few months was a 35 minute film that I have just finished post on. It's my first real effort to write and direct anything of substance. What I need now is feedback. And I hope to get it from some of you. The local film community here is good natured, but lack a certain degree of critical assesment. Mostly they encourage each other, which is good, but I need objective feedback, without the back slapping and atta-boys.

So, if you are interested, (especially some of you guys who know me a bit) let me know and I will send out a few DVDs. The only thing I ask in return is some sort of comprehensive critique. I need more than; "Dude, that chick is hot", or, "This disc will make a great coaster" I am hoping for a breakdown on both the technical aspects (lighting, sound, etc) and creative aspects (story, direction, composition, music, etc) of the film. I won't give you any details, except to say that it's a drama, and it was shot on the DVX. I want the film to be judged on it's merits, with no caveats because I tell you that didn't get the pony I wanted for the murder scene.

I know it's asking a lot, and I would be thrilled with 2 or 3 reviews. I'm just trying to get better at this freak show called filmmaking. So PM or reply here if you are up for it.

Thanks. It's good to be home.

To those of you that responded (and gave me an address), I sent your DVDs out this AM. Let me know what you think.

Your efforts on my behalf are much appreciated

Thanks to those that have sent me your feedback. I'm glad the film was so well received, but I am even happier with the specific comments I have gotten. Fresh eyes can make all the difference. Thanks again.

It went very well. It was the last thing we showed of 3 films and 3 trailers. And the audience was very enthusiastic about it. But then again they may have all been hammered by then

There were some folks from the local writers/actors group at the screening, and now they want to show it at their next general assembly for the benefit of their members. So I took that as a compliment.

No, it's 36 minutes long...that's a lot of server space. :(
Maybe when I get my own website set up I'll put it up there.
