Hyson Rails - Overall - OK! ...with quirks

I received them and they are crafted very well. Though, they didn't come with very well defined instructions. It was merely a small (5 inch x 5 inch) sheet of paper with a picture and 3 small arrows pointing to a few installation pieces. The product, though, is pretty self explanatory, so there isn't a huge need for anything more.

The only problem may lie in the type of 35mm adapter you use. I have the Letus Flip Enhanced; which is a bulky item. When fully screwed onto my camera, it sits almost sideways with the bulk of the adapter to the right, so I can't support it because the support system at the end of the rails is pretty short. So, for my workaround on this, I unscrew the adapter enough so that the bulk is on the bottom and I support the adapter that way.

Regardless, the rails have alleviated a lot of the problem, and I'm satisfied with the product. I would suggest them for the price.

[EDIT] - After talking with Joel, he has developed a longer Y adapter support so that it can support adapters that sit higher on the rails. THANKS Joel. :)

I would think the rails arent going to do much for the shake, just stability of the unit (lens, letus, camera) as a whole - any shakes transmitted to the lens by your hand will still shake the image. I think the follow focus/whip will be what is really going to help with shake.

edit -oh and thanks for the review of the rails themselves, always good to hear some thoughts from people using different equipment etc.

Yeah. I need to get a follow focus, but I hate mixing up all the parts. I now have a Letus Flip Enhanced, Hyson Rails, and looking into the SGpro Follow Focus. I'd like to purchase the follow focus from Joel at Hyson, but I want one pretty quickly.

Are you using the base plate and rails with an HVX or another camera? I use the Hyson base plate and rails with my HVX and the Letus and it gives me enough room.
