Lets say a certain person, lets call him...Tuper Srooper, was to rent a Sony HDW-F900 or a Panasonic AJ-HDC27 Varicam, and, hypothetically speaking, ran away to Canada, never to return to the US.

Could this individual still be pursued by the Authorities, or is he free and clear?

This is Hypothetically speaking of course... ;)

thats over 50,000 easily.. with accessories and all your over 100,000 easily. federal offense- grand larsony - you ..i mean "trooper -super" would be in some serious trouble.

Don't forget the Kino Flo light kit...oh...and you'll need wheels for your getaway. I think budget rents out Lincoln Navigators. :P

Sure they can.  Ever hear of extradition?  Whether or not they think it's worth it is another story.  Either way, somebody would have to live with the fact that they stole a buttload of somebody else's stuff because they were too lazy or impatient to earn it themselves.  

A clear conscience is worth more than any camera.

Dude. If you plan on leaving the country FOREVER for a crime, maybe think a little bigger then one camera.

Remember, mounties will always get their man (even if it's a wrong one). All they need is a call from that grey building at the corner of 10th and E Street in DC.

Plus, you might be pursued by a horde of Canadian DVX users who'd want to rob you off your illicit goods.
